1. The Start Of Thankgiving

Thanksgiving in its history is a special day to give thanks for the blessings of life that someone has gotten. This celebration was first performed by Pastor Juan de Padilla in 1541 in Canyon, Texas. Then followed appeared in 1565 celebrated by refugees in St. Augustine, Florida. This marks the historical mark of the arrival of the first wave of European immigrants to North America.

In tradition, dishes during Thanksgiving celebration are never absent from the main menu such as turkey, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Other dishes that also grace the table are locally grown vegetables such as potatoes, pumpkin pie, onions, spinach, cabbage, carrots and peas.

Although it is not related to Christmas, Thanksgiving is often touted as the Macy Day Parade or also known as the Christmas parade. This designation became popular since 1924.

During the American Civil War, many battles and conflicts caused suffering to Americans. However, in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued an official letter calling for every 4th week of November to be National Thanksgiving Day. Since that appointment, Lincoln invites all Americans to take the time to be grateful for all that America has gone through, both the suffering and the wounds suffered by citizens due to war, putting everything into God’s merciful hands.

5. Thanksgiving becomes a thanksgiving for Turkey supplies.

Based on research data by the National Turkey Foundation, in one year Americans consume about 46 million turkeys, which is about one-fifth of all turkeys. And turkey is usually a food that is consumed a lot on long holidays, to be precise at the end of the year. It’s no wonder that Thanksgiving is a thanksgiving for the availability of a favorite turkey ingredient that Americans can still enjoy. It’s no wonder that Thanksgiving is also called Turkey Day.
